CORONA LIGHTS - Capella

The surface of Asteroid Vesta is revealed here for the first time. Although Vesta had been imaged before by SPACENOW, this new image takes advantage of Vesta's current approaching trajectory to Earth at approximately 2 Astronomical Units. As SPACENOW covers the full rotation of the asteroid in space, more images will come up while Vesta reaches opposition in early August.

MEADE 14” LX200, SBIG ST4020. Exposure time: 60 seconds in high resolution.
