
Save for the gaseous worlds Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, if Ganymede was a planet, it would rank fourth sizewise, right after Earth, Venus and Mars.
It’s got a volumous compound mantle of rock under and ice above.
The Icy greyish/brownish crust shows dark and light areas where water and carbon dioxide ice are present. The dark areas are predominantly filled with impact craters.
