
Aldebaran is classified as a giant orange K class star that is located at approximately 65 light years from the Sun.
It is the 14th brightest star in the night sky and has a surface temperature of 4010° Kelvin. That means that Aldebaran would be cooler than the Sun (average surface temperature of 5780° Kelvin). Luminance-wise Aldebaran beats the Sun by 150 times.
Although orangy in appearance from our vantage point, Aldebaran revealed itself with a blue globe typical of the brightest stars.
